Becoming a great leader or team member (or human being!) starts with a good hard look in the mirror. Why do you think and act the way you do? What are your barriers to professional and personal growth?
What are your personal values and how can you embrace your authenticity?
At the heart of the Dare to Lead™ curriculum are three rules to live by:
Embrace the suck.
Who we are is how we lead.
Cultivate a culture in which brave work, tough conversations, and whole hearts are the expectation, and armor is not necessary or rewarded.
In teaching you the collection of four courage-building skills that are teachable, measurable, and observable, by the end of the Dare to Lead™ course you will be able to move from armored leadership to Daring Leadership!
Pliant Solutions is now offering classes in the Washington, DC Metro area (DC/MD/VA).
Attendees will leave with increased self-awareness and vulnerability:
- Greater clarity around areas of personal growth related to authentic life and leadership
- Increased clarity of personal values that guide leadeship
- Learning and practicing healthy strategies to use when strong emotions hijack our executive functioning
- Honed critical awareness to cultural myths around vulnerability and why this matters to leading
- Increased awareness to the seven attributes of trust
- Increased capacity for curiosity, bouncing back, and grounded confidence
The Heart of Daring Leadership-Define your peronsal call to courage as a leader. Demystify your own fears and concerns. Build the skills needed to walk into the arena, try new behaviors, experience falls and failures, get back up, learn, and try again.
Rumbling with Vulnerability-Learn the myths of vulnerability, and define vulnerability as uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure. Understand the role of courage and vulnerability in daring leadership.
Shame-Define shame and understand the physiology of it. Learn to recognize how shame, scarcity, and comparison show up in the workplace and how they affect engagement, trust, and connection.
Empathy-Understand the five attributes of empathy, as well as common barriers to meaningful connection.
Armored Leadership versus Daring Leadership-Develop an understanding of the behaviors that characterize daring leadership as compared to armored leadership. Learn how to disassemble your armor.
Grounded Confidence and Rumbling Skills-Learn how curiosity and rumble skills can be practiced to develop grounded confidence.
Living Into Our Values-Learn how values operate in our professional lives and the role they play in integrity and daring leadership. Identify your core values and the behaviors that support these values so you can learn to recognize when you are acting from a place of integrity (or not).
BRAVING Trust–Clear is kind. Unclear is unkind. Explain how authenticity is cultivated by Living BIG: establishing boundaries, practicing integrity, and extending generosity. Learn how to use the BRAVING inventory as a way of understanding and discussing the elements of trust: Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Value, Integrity, Nonjudgment, and Generosity.
Learning to Rise-Discuss how the brain is wired for story, how this influences the development of stories that are not true, and how these stories can affect our behavior. Recognize common strategies for offloading hurt, and learn more effective behaviors for managing emotion.
Reckoning with Emotion-Explain how writing down the story we make up (SFD) helps make meaning of our experiences. Understand how rumbling with anxiety, grief, and forgiveness are relevant to the Rising Strong process.
The Revolution-Determine how you will integrate key learnings from this course into your professional life.

htfont”>Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage- building program designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.
Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead, which also debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly lists.
The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings and coaching to help individuals, teams and organizations move from armored leadership to daring leadership.
